A copy of the work by Basque historian and chronicler Esteban de Garibay y Zamalloa (1533-1599). The text presents an ample and general early history of Spain through part of the 16th century, including the Roman and Visigothic period, and the Moor invasion. Text provides a historical account of the early Christian kings of Leon and Oviedo, as well as the history and genealogy of the Counts of Castile. Also provides historical accounts of the Catholic kings, including King Philip of Austria and Queen Juana I. Introduces a short chronicle of the Spanish conquest of the Americas ("Indias"). Also mentioned are the Kings of Aragon and Navarra, the Counts of Barcelona, and the Kings of Naples and Sicily. A chronicle concerning historical and political happenings surrounding the reign of Charles V, 1500-1558, Holy Roman Emperor (1519-1558) who was also Charles I, King of Spain (1516-1556). The text pays special attention to his relations with France. Text ends at the year 1590 and seems to be based on the 1604-1606 edition of Historia de la vida y hechos del Emperador Carlos V, by Prudencio de Sandoval.
